Mrs. Bertha L. Doyle, 93, retired Montgomery County school teacher died Monday night at the Ben Hur Home at Crawfordsville after an illness of about six years. She was the widow of Alva Doyle, a painter in the Russellville area for many years. Mrs. Doyle taught the Women's Bible Class of the Russellville Christian Church for many years and held different offices in the Women's Missionary Society. She was a member of Russellville Chapter 311 OES, Pythian Sisters and Home & Garden Club. She graduated from Waveland HS and a Normal College at Danville. Mrs. Doyle was born in Parkersburg Jan 31, 1878 to William and Mary Clay Goff. She married Alva M. Doyle on June 15, 1904. Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Beulah Crodian of Indianapolis and Mrs. Maurine McCullough of Wingate and three nephews, Lodell Roquet of Indianapolis, Ralph Carrington of Stafford, VA and Billy Goff of Monticello. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in McGaughey & Son Funeral Home here. Rev. Leo Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery near Russellville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
